Norbury Hall Park: Furtive Wren-ling
Grumpier-looking gape-flanges in large
I walked through Norbury Hall Park and was alerted to something unusual by a wren making an unfamiliar and persistent call... I followed the sound and then noticed much quieter scratchy squeaking sounds, and following those led me to the two (or perhaps three) tiny wren fledglings hopping and flitting around in deep (and inaccessible) undergrowth. It was tricky to get shots, but it was nice to watch their parents foraging and returning to feed the fledglings, and they kept in touch via the constant calling which drew the fledglings to move slowly in the direction of the foraging parents.
