Helter-skelter

Nice try!

This is what I see when I'm on the computer in the school staff room but it was only yesterday that I realised it wasn't the tower of the town's main church. It is, in fact, a water tower and was bought about eighteen months ago by a local builder who's converting it into his family home. I haven't been able to find out if it's finished yet but I would love to have a look in it when it is. One thing's guaranteed - they're going to have a terrific view!

As for my title, this relates to yet another thing which those pesky students did to make me laugh today. Yesterday lunchtime, the school was informed it was having its OFSTED inspection today and tomorrow (and no, that's definitely not the funny bit!). This morning, some of the students very excitedly asked me if it was true that it was a 'no-planner day'. There's not actually any such thing but apparently there have been texts going round to say that there were no lessons today as it was a 'fun day'. I felt quite sorry for the kids when I told them someone was pulling their leg.

Something similar happened during snow, when messages were going round to say the school was closed, even though it wasn't. No shortage of jokers in secondary school, that's for sure! Wish I'd had the nerve to do stuff like that at school (but I'd never tell the kids that, of course!). :-D

Anyway, everyone seemed to have survived Day 1 of the inspection and by the time I go back on Friday, they should have the result - I'm sure it'll be great!

Happy St George's Day!
