A view from The Lookoff this afternoon.
I have a brunch group that meets every Sunday at various restaurants. Twice a year we do an out of town brunch, today was the first spring one we have been able to do since before covid hit. The restaurants here were closed in the spring of 2020 and again in the spring of 2021. The fall out of town brunch has been held in Tatamagouche for the past few years so we can take advantage of the fall colors in that area.
Today I booked a restaurant in New Minas, just over an hours drive for most of us. I had been there once, pre-covid, and thought it would be a good place to try. People want to go back there in the fall for a second visit. The food was good, you don't leave there hungry, I'm sure most of us could have taken a doggy bag home. The service was excellent, both the manager and the waitress checked on us on a regular basis as we were eating. With 18 of us there, some restaurants find it hard to get all the food out close to the same time, but this place was very organized. The prices are quite reasonable too.
Even though I had said that I would drive someone else's car if they didn't want to drive, the one that volunteered her car decided she could drive. All I had to do was navigate. After brunch we decided to drive to The Lookoff, a small community on the north mountain where you get a good view of the valley. It was a warm day, temperature in the mid-20's and we talked about getting an ice cream cone. I suggested that we stop at Fox Hill Cheese and get some gelato. They make it on the premises.
Other than sending some emails tonight, it was a much needed day off for me.
