Bus Gala 2022

CleanSteve and I went down to Waitrose to catch a vintage bus to Stroud college at Stratford Park , where the vintage bus gala was being held. The weather was variable, occasionally squally and showery, but we saw some classic old buses like this one, and the event was well attended. I never really noticed the technical details of buses when I was younger (apart from revelling in London transport's iconic red Routemasters). Dublin buses were double-decker, painted blue and cream, and Highland Omnibuses in Scotland were red, and travelled long distances. Lothian Regional Transport ran maroon and white double deckers, and Stroud was transitioning from Stroud valleys buses to Stagecoach when I moved here 28 years ago. Cotswold green operates some of the more interesting rural routes (that's it, folks colors only! Strathclyde passenger transport's Glasgow buses had been green white and gold, but changed to orange. Make what you will of that).

There weren't too many trips running, apart from around town, so after a bit of a wander around, we caught a beautiful blue bus townwards, and returned home. I rustled up some bacon sandwiches, and after eating, returned to bed to read a good book about Dementia. It is, as the quote from John Humphrys (UK newsreader) says on its cover, 'exactly what is needed'. Then, whoops, I fell asleep. Wonder if going to bed earlier would help?
