Why do hens always look so grumpy?

Still on a bird theme today but this hen was not nearly as aggressive as the term.

We made a slight diversion on our way home today stopping at. Boarhills to visit some of the gardens that were open for charity.
This hen and her five lady friends shared the garden with a rather handsome cockerel who was a bit camera shy.

The extra is one of the many little pathways taking you round the garden which totally surrounded the house.
