Heave awa' lads...
I walked home down the Royal Mile and passed Paisley Close, and thought I'd blip the decorative entrance. In the 1800s when Edinburgh's old town was horrifically overcrowded, a building collapsed on this site. Many people died, but a young boy was found in the rubble - located thanks to him shouting "Heave awa' lads, Ah'm no' died yet!"
The sign above the close serves as a memorial, with a carving of the boy and a more anglicised version reading "Heave awa' chaps, I'm no' dead yet!"
