Mānawatia a Matariki
Matariki is a constellation in the southern winter sky heralding the Māori New Year.
Up at 5 am to go up Mauao to capture this with Matariki being approximately in the centre of the picture. My camera isn't really up for this but at least I saw it with my eyes. It's very pretty, looks like a glitter bomb has been set off in the sky :-)
This year is the first time Matariki is officially celebrated, even with a public holiday! What took that so long is a mystery to me but at least it happened now.
