CAUGHT IN A TRAP

There's a type of oak tree in the old cemetery with deeply fissured bark, which exudes sticky stuff and smells a bit of fermenting apples and the insects love it. Some predators and spiders lurk in the fissures waiting to trap the visitors and I noticed this pair of lacewings that had met their demise, along with another couple of tiny moths which can just be seen. I had to stand on tiptoe with the camera above my head to get the shot and it just seems to have caught the wings at the right angle to capture the iridescence. Extra is a moth I found on a newly opened thistle. I'm not sure what it is - I'm confused by my book, but I think it might be Myelois cribrella, or possibly something else like an Ermel moth.

Other than that, the day was notable for B's survival against all expectations of a scary dental appointment that has been looming over him (and therefore me, too) for several weeks. He was very brave.

I've filled in all my missing blips from the past week.
