Trapped

Amber is the most amazing thing! It's especially spectacular when you look at it with back light. This specimen has two lil' spiders trapped inside and originates from Sicily. Amber is often faked as it can be quite desirable to collectors. You can tell (upon close inspection) this one isn't a fake because the spiders legs are curled in. In fakes the spiders legs are splayed out. The cracking you see on the surface is called crazing. Essentially it is a form of deterioration but, as I find in a lot of cases, this can create a very pleasing effect.
