Diary of an Edinburgher

Neighbourhood treats

A day that started sunny, clouded over for a bit, and ended with a bang - must have been well over 20° in our garden in the afternoon sun. And that wind has gone.

I took Archie out to the Links, and no, he didn’t get to run around off lead with gay abandon after yesterday’s hi-jinks.

After the gym, JR made scones for our afternoon visitor. And, although they were small, they were perfect. Some secret recipe she tried out after much research and ignoring James Martin’s scone-making advice. They were scrumptious.

CT, our pal from down the road popped in and was keen to see our champagne photos, which actually are not that interesting, being mainly composed of photos of 1000s of dusty champagne bottles as far as the eye can see.

I took Archie out again in the afternoon. He dragged me swifty past the cafe, as usual, stuck his head in the fish shop door, as usual, and got a treat. Then he rushed into the hardware shop and got another treat, as usual. He loves his neighbourhood strolls.

The back garden was by this time a sun trap, so we sat outside for a while. Funnily enough, I used my bird ID app and it couldn’t identify squawking screeching seagulls. But at least the screaming kids several gardens away weren’t out…
