Kayaking off La Jolla Shores
Today was another great day. It started with a kayaking trip around the bay at La Jolla Shores. The first time Susan had been in a kayak and several decades since I'd last sat in one.
We need not have worried as the sea was as placid as could be, with only gentle waves to get through when launching. Bought a disposable camera to record the adventure, so we're going back in time to a very simple set up with no zoom and no control over any settings.
It was a great time on the water, we went into a cave, saw sea lions and pelicans and great forests of kelp. The time passed all too quickly but we did have a short walk along the beach afterwards, paddling in the Pacific Ocean in wonderful weather - we could have been on a tropical island.
In the afternoon we went to Costco to have the film developed and put onto CD as well as have lunch and buy a few things. Having lunch at Costco means going around and trying all the samples on offer. Quite a selection of food, savoury and sweet. Ample for a lunch.
The evening saw us at the Petco Stadium in San Diego to see the Padres baseball team play the Milwaukee Brewers. Good job we got there for the start as the Brewers scored an amazing 5 runs in the first innings. That left the Padres with an uphill task and they eventually lost 7-1 despite recording more hits than the Brewers.
Tomorrow is our last full day in San Diego but we've not decided what to do yet.
