Stream of Continuity

This old Buddhist temple called Wat Pathum Wanaram is squeezed between the high rise section of the 'City of Angels'. Strangely, it provides a quiet seclusion from city life. For me, this shot is an adequate representation of the modern Thai lifestyle: the duality of the spiritual world and a highly materialistic society. An Eastern version of God and Mammon. But in the local culture money is not necessarily incompatible with religion, since you gain after-life credits by giving money.
On this picture, it seems that the two roofs - the old and the new - have some kind of resemblance.
