Camino Day 10: The Way the mist forms
Ribadiso to O Pedrouzo - JBD = 22.1km
The Way the mist forms in the valley's is one of the best reasons for waking early in Spain. It was a sensational sight in the morning and one that was required as we woke up to the horrible news from Boston. As a keen runner it affected me and I walked in front of everyone else on my own for the morning, simply walking and thinking and not wanting to talk to anyone.
Lunch however gave us something to smile about. The Taberna in Salceda is run by a lovely, friendly lady named Sonia who we nicknamed Marion as she constantly made her patrons do shots of coffee or herb liquor, taking one for herself whenever she coerced others into drinking. We had three shots, which took her total up to nine. We left before the afternoon had barely started.
I had been carrying two rocks all day, helping me think and giving a little exercise and at the time which felt right I gave them up to a lady's memorial when nearly in O Pedrouzo. It seemed to be the right way to end an emotional day of walking, and the penultimate day before reaching Santiago.
