The Clump

Hard to believe but this tatty collection of ash trees is known as The Clump and is a landmark for miles around as it sits atop Harting Down on the South Downs.  From die back it’s sadly diminished.  We were up there yesterday and they’ve fenced it off and planted native species on the site planning to let the ash stand and then presumably fall as a resource to birds and insects.  It’s a sad end and will take some time to recover its impact but at least its decline is being managed.  

I was negative today (huzzah) so just one more tomorrow and I’m out!
