Take off

Take off from Zürich. On our way to Svalbard for our Arctic adventure, changed planes in Oslo. Unfortunately, our bags didn’t make it (there was a problem with a fuel pipe so they unloaded most of the bags!) and there’s no more flights until tomorrow afternoon.

We actually arrived just after midnight but it was still fully daylight. Amazing! Took the shuttle to our hostel along with tourist and researchers heading out to the various stations. Strange to see so many parked up snow mobiles (hundreds) alongside a few cars as we drive through the village, lots of colourful houses, remains of the mining era AND our first reindeer.
