Derelict house in Maitland

Scenes such as this one present a puzzle. All the grass is neatly mown. There are bins that look like they get emptied. How about the motor boat at left! But the house is in a serious state of neglect and if occupied, could be by someone reclusive.

Maitland has had its glory days. There are stately buildings, many of which could do with restoration. Lots of imposing old churches too, probably without congregations to match. The Hunter River runs through what now seems like a quiet town and we have enjoyed walking beside it.

The extra shows some liveliness we encountered last night. A band called the Baltic Bar Mitzvahs. Some people got up and danced.
