A Country Tale

This is one of the many farm roads that meanders off the single-track road that traverses the spine of the crest on which our village sits. It is a horseshoe-shaped ridge with our village at one end, and a 15th century castle at the other. The ridge falls away steeply on either side of the road, to the valley of the Bave on one side and the valley of the Dordogne on the other. Spring is evident all around as I take my daily walk, but the walnut trees are always the last to leaf.
