School's Out

We promised Matty and Emily ice-cream in the park after the pick-up today. It was so hot (32 degrees !!) that we had to eat it very fast before it melted ....  Matty likes to visit the basketball court on the way home, and he left me defending his place from the Big Boys while he had his Eton Mess cornet (no plain vanilla here, this is Surrey ...)  

An hour lying down with a cold flannel over my face just about revived me, and it's Fizzy Friday so I've had a couple of glasses of Cava. 

The children are off to bed, but we will be up bright and early to get Matty off on his trek with the Scouts. They are building bivouacs and sleeping out tomorrow evening. Emily is going to a birthday party, and then a sleepover at another friend's (we have two pages of instructions to make sure we get everyone to the right place at the right time with the right stuff)

Now it's time for us to crawl to bed, open the windows, turn on the fans and hope to sleep ... Tomorrow is going to be cooler!.
