Hot

Well, southern UKers, you don't need me to tell you how hot it's been.  I did go out to take pictures and came back (as my daughter kindly informed me) looking like a cooked sausage.  I felt like one too..

It did make me worry a bit about how birds were managing when I saw them standing around with their mouths open to help cool down.  First the blackbird in Extras and, a few birds later, this yellowhammer (thanks for the ID, Joff) who I met on the butterfly reserve.  I'm really glad tomorrow's due to be a few degrees cooler.

Perhaps I should try standing around with my mouth open  ;-D
