Unscheduled trip today as a result of yesterday's problem with the engine not revving up when the throttle was opened.
A phone call to a man who knows suggested that the sluggishness was due to the engine sitting idle for 5 months and the diesel going "stale". He suggested a run of several minutes would clear the old fuel and all should be OK. Rigged up the watering can to feed the cooling water and had another go - sure enough - suddenly cleared and revved up as it should.
Tinkered for a few hours with the batteries on charge then left the solar panel to it.
Less apprehensive about Thursday now.
