Countryside report

Today the temperature is 37 degrees and this English rose is wilting!
Going clockwise, the wheat is ripe, the sweetcorn is growing well (and being watered in the midday heat) the sunflowers have sprung up but not yet in flower, and the barley is being harvested as I write.
Tomorrow we are forecast 41 degrees, but are counting the hours until Sunday when we drop to 28 degrees, I can’t wait!
