The last poppy

The poppy has done well this year. It's had lots of blooms - more than for a few years in the recent past. It is an ancient plant and clearly a tough one. It's interesting in all its stages, a bit like a tulip. The seedheads are particularly good I think.

Lovely sociable time last night. Mindful of today's early start I left before the others and managed a bit of sleep. Didn't see the strawberry moon. However awoke to clear skies and sunshine this morning. What a joy after the recent gloomy and chilly weather.

I'd booked the farm but we haven't made it beyond the garden so far. And really what's the point of going so where else to play outside. No goats or alpacas here but never mind. I think we'll stick around here.

Yoga later then a busy evening preparing for visitors. So exciting to imagine having other people in the house again.
