Work day

I worked on and off during the day, but managed to pop over to see Mum for a while. It was a lovely sunny morning, then there was a period of heavy rain, more sun, more rain. The wind chill factor was definitely in play.

Hubby had a domestic day making bread, zesting and juicing limes for the freezer and preparing tonight’s meal. We learned that there is a Wednesday night 5km run/walk from the St Heliers Bay Pigeon Racing Club, which is actually a small bar on the St Heliers waterfront.  We decided to go along and it was fun.  The walkers set off 15 minutes before the runners, heading to the turnaround point in Mission Bay, hoping that we’d make it before the runners. I think we almost did.  It was a lovely evening -  the moon shone, the water sparkled in the lights and the walk was most enjoyable. Of course, we all had a drink afterwards, which is the general aim - to increase business on a Wednesday night. Some, of course, stayed for more than one drink. Our friends drove us up the hill to home as lots of buses were cancelled because of Covid.  The good thing is that, whilst my leg hurt, it wasn’t quite as bad as last night, thereby proving a point, perhaps.  Use it or lose it!

I took a photo of the crane on a building site just up the hill from St Heliers village, which is today’s blip.  The extra is a bit of fun - a lime that looks as though it has eyes and a mouth.

There are 5,554 new community cases today, and the seven-day rolling average is 5,777 compared to 6,035 last Wednesday. The number of people in hospital is 368, including 7 in ICU. Another 11 deaths have been reported, bringing the total number of deaths to 1,359 and the seven-day rolling average to 13.
