Bristol has a big shipping history
A day trip put with our Swindon family and and being in Bristol it had to be a Blip of SS Great Britain build by Isambard Kingdom Brunel for the Great Weston Shipping Company from 1845 to 1854 she was the largest passenger carrying vessel in the world. She is dry docked in the dock where she was originally built, to learn more of SS Great Britain and IKB take a look here.
Just along the wharf, also dry-docked but for a refit, is Fridtjof Nansen a tall ship built in 1919 as a freighter named Edith it has had a long and varied history and now in its current configuration it's a sail training vessel.
