Magog Down
I had to make a delivery to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge this morning and decided to have a walk at Magog Down on the way home. I've heard about the Gog Magog Hills, which are a few miles southeast of the city, but have never been here before.
It was beautifully sunny and I was expecting the place to be alive with insects but I had to search hard for subjects to photograph. I managed to capture a skylark ascending and it was nice to see wildflowers, including pyramidal orchids, that I don't see at home. I like the idea of the scrape which is an area where all the vegetation has been removed (pictured) so that it can be colonised by plants and insects which thrive on the bare chalk.
