Tuesday: Gardening in Sunshine

Cranesbill “Splish Splash” with a bee, ripe fruit on wild strawberries - very tasty and a bee on the purple toadflax.
The garden is just so busy with all sorts of birds and bees.
MrD rescued a baby siskin this morning, the tiny twig it was on must have snapped and it fell onto a step by the shed, he handed it over to me and I enclosed it between my hands where it recovered. Took it back near where it had been found and placed it on the hedge, MrD said it recovered and flew up into the tree :-))
I tidied a small patch of the very old deep bed, dug in some fresh homemade compost and planted half of my runner bean “Scarlet Emperor” seedlings. Remaining plants are in a very large terracotta pot.
The courgette and marrow plants are ok - everything given a good watering - it was very hot this afternoon.
Started off the runner beans, one seed per pot and they’ve been in the greenhouse in a sealed transparent plastic storage box - 100% germination, slugs weren’t able to get at seedlings and keeping fingers crossed that seedlings will be left alone now they’re outdoors …
There was a male bullfinch near the bird bath late afternoon, very eye catching colour and so unusual to see one in the Summer.
We had Fish and Chips for tea and I’m very tired … goodnight all xxxx xxx xx
Stay safe & healthy & happy everyone :-)
Nos da pawb / goodnight all xx
