Youngsters

I found this gaggle of young Canada Geese (Branta canadensis) having a quiet moment among the lily pads. Shortly after I captured this image, they began to splash and play in the water. Several goslings completely submerged and swam underwater quite a distance. I have never seen this behavior before with this species. Birdwatching is a fascinating pastime.
