Poor Deer
Well at the moment only the quality of the photo, taken from quite a distance. The first silage mowing has started and these deer are at huge risk. There were about 4 in a remote spot on the edge of the forest. They will give birth to their young now in the long grass and good chance a tractor at great speed and huge mowers will kill or at n´best maim the calf. Mother runs away, trying to deflect the attacker, & the young one instinctively lays perfectly still.
Huge efforts have been undertaken to sort out this problem by using drones with heat sensing cameras & getting the hunters to sweep the area with their dogs just before. It is a criminal offence to kill or maim a deer, but generally you would never find out. And to be fair, the farmer's dont want a corpse in their silage.
