Grounded

This shouldn’t be possible (walking up to a woodpecker and picking it up). Fledged about a week ago at least (it's the one I've been photographing) and had been happily flying around till today, when all it could do was flutter along the ground. 


Called the SSPCA, who were en route, but got diverted to a road emergency. So it's spending the night in a box. We've given it some water and peanuts, and hoping it sees out the night. Poor wee thing.
