moth

Not the best of photos as it was taken hastily with Sarah's phone. I had been clearing away the weeds from around the oil tank - a mixture of wild raspberries, bindweed, long grass and a tall weed with square stems - and this beautiful moth flew out and onto my hand. I put it onto the Ruby Chard for a quick photograph before it flew off again.

Later on, I looked it up and it is a White Plume Moth. Unfortunately I have ruined its habitat as the larvae feed on bindweed. Fortunately, there is plenty of bindweed at the top of the garden and now I have a good excuse to leave a nice wild patch for this lovely creature :-)
