Mr H's choice

And mine, also.

Daughter C, who is in Viet Nam on a school history trip (teacher assisting), woke us this morning at 0500 to tell us that her Facebook account had been hacked, and she was likely to become relatively incommunicado despite doing all the appropriate things (which do seem to have worked, by analysis later in the day). So the order of the 'day' was coffee, especially as two boys were awake by 0630.

I ended up heading out for a run, after the rain had stopped, at the gentlemanly hour of 0800. Not far from the beach house I heard the insistent call of a tui, or two or three. Suddenly one burst out of a tree at high speed chased at equal speed by another, only centimetres behind. A rapid u-turn to come back. And out of the trees on the other side of the road came tui #3 to join the swooping speeding flight.

Very impressive and great to see. Only 50 m further on, I heard a tui in a tree on my side of the street. Went to have a closer look; whereupon it hopped through to the other side. Where there were flowers. Around I went and managed one photo before it reacted indignantly and flew away. This is it. Cropped slightly to remove distractions like the neighbouring house.

It is really very nice in large.

The pleasure in today's run repeated how I felt during yesterday's first run in the new shoes. Although I have an Adidas model, and he has Merrells, I guess I'm sounding a little like Tsuken. It is so much easier to run as I prefer (mid to forefoot landing) than with shoes that have a big heel.

I enjoy it so much I'll look to get a second pair.

A day of mixed weather, and mixed activity. Some reading for a report. Chatting with our builder, who we have asked to do something extra. The original plan had a place for a fireplace, which we found during the building process could not be there, because of requirements about the chimney position. So we aim to extend the seat, add some bookcases, and turn it into a conversation/reading/TV watching nook.

Boys have been a mixture of quiet concentration on iPad/Phone games (courtesy of Granny), vigorous interactive boy games, and eating and drinking. In other words, enjoying the school holidays.
