Santa Maria de Narzana

The picture shows the decoration above the west entrance to the church of Sta Maria de Narzana. This is a late-12th century Romanesque church near Vega de Sariego in Asturias, on the Camino de Santiago route between Villaviciosa and Oviedo.
Built in the late 12th century, the church was "restored" in 1885, and then was sacked and burned in 1936, probably as part of the reprisals against the Catholic Church for its role in enabling Franco´s nationalist coup. It was restored to its present condition in 1960.
In the extras are a full-length picture of the main west entrance, and two views from the east, showing the east window and the corbels.
