Saddleworth Brass Band competition

The Whit Friday spectacular that is the Brass Band competition at Greenfield. They came from far and wide, played a marching tune as they marched up the road to the playing field (Sports day, cricket, tug of war earlier in the day) where they performed their party pieces.  Then back on the bus to play at another of the 11 villages. Posh bands in neat uniforms and excellent Uni bands in fancy dress, the streets were lined with revellers. And there were pies...plenty of them. Oh, and beer.  Plenty of that too. More pics in extras. I stayed for the first 31 bands. They're expecting 60-70.
