A Renaissance Birthday

We had a lovely day in Florence for Igor’s birthday. The train from Bologna was easy and very fast. About 260km/hr. We thought we might see nice countryside but the train runs in a tunnel most of the way. When we got there we wandered round taking in all the sights we could. It was very, very hot. It got to over 30° by the afternoon. It felt much warmer because we were in a city. There was a big procession marching through the town in renaissance dress with drums and trumpets and flags. I told Igor I’d organised it for his birthday. It was very colourful and loud and spectacular.
