Bonnie blooming banks

I took a wander up the garden at Nether Craigwell while waiting for guests to arrive this afternoon. Popping out the gate at the top, it's only a few steps to the Burns Monument at Regent Road.

I was surprised to see how vivid the colours were in this pic when I uploaded it.

I did climb higher and went up onto the top of Calton Hill. There was a fire-suited person wearing a helmet which had mirrors attached in a circular pattern round the edge. He was using them to focus the sunlight on a book he was holding in front of him. The book burst into flames and he held it until it was reduced to ash. I'm sure I saw this - or maybe it was just the sunshine giving me delusions.
