They keep trying

Since we had trouble with the rat being attracted to the fallen birdseed we have stopped using the feeders. This also meant the Squirrels were non too happy with the cutting off of their treat supply.
However, they do keep trying. Spotted this one today investigating the solar lamps hanging from the three arches. Didn't have any luck, of course, and give us a scowling look when it saw us watching. Feeling a little guilty but at least it's summer and there is plenty of other food around.
We haven't seen any further rat activity so blocking up the holes, at the bottom of the fence, plus stopping the bird seed, appears to have worked. I'll have to build a bird table which doesn't let bird food fall to the ground.
