These stones are to be found at various points all over the countryside. They are the new electronic type of property boundary marking points set by the Bavarian State Surveyors office.

As is the case here, these stones do tend to get ploughed up from time to time. Most parishes have a "Sworn In" person, who is responsible for putting them back in place. It's an extraordinarily important office, I think generally almost honorary & unpaid but for expenses, probably the oldest civil service job that exists today. The person has to moderate in cases of disagreement about property boundaries. They are called "Feldgeschworene" or "Field Jury Person"
