Okay, not a pretty sight, but this is yesterday's leftovers helping to grow tomorrow's food. I cleared out the base of our compost bin today, to dig into our raised vegetable beds, ready for planting now it's getting a bit warmer. You put kitchen and garden waste in the top, and a year later remove rich black compost from the bottom, like magic. Emptied of its harvest, I declare our little compost factory open for business again.
