Kirigami : La Sagrada Familia
Friends invited us to lunch today, and were keen to show us a card they had received from an Iranian friend.
It is of La Sagrada Familia, the cathedral in Barcelona. It is an example of the art of Kirigami, a single card cut and folded. What amazing skill, such fine detailed work.
I was keen to photograph it, and we tried various angles, ending up in their conservatory, with the sun shining in. We stood the card on a large white board. I liked this one best as it showed up strong shadows through the cut out.
I might change this into a black and white image, any thoughts?
For information, in the UK on BBC4 at 9 pm this evening, there is a documentary about the famous photographer, Sir Norman Parkinson.
