Sand is made for bare feet
Burnham Overy Staithe to Stiffkey. I’m slowly adjusting, but something I’m learning to get my head around is to walk in sand with hiking boots. I get from a temperature point of view boots keep your feet warm, but everything else inside me just screams take the shoes off. And so when I stepped onto Holkham beach from the marshes today, with endless beach ahead, I took off my boots and let my inner child run free. Barefoot on the beach, belting out tunes from the south of music, this felt like the freedom I’ve been craving. There were no people in sight for miles and it was low tide so I walked out to sea for a mile before reaching the sea to dip my toes in the North Sea. Wonderful!
