We had a very relaxing, enjoyable time in Brindisi while we waited for the time to come to pick up a rental car - long story, not very interesting. Thankfully Brindisi is interesting, despite it being known for its ferry port and airport. We found a little outdoor café for breakfast that I think was a little bit of heaven - good coffee, good pastries, excellent music and no one to suggest that maybe it’s time to leave. A young woman at the next table came to study. She was there for two hours and in that time had a double espresso. My kind of place.

We also found excellent gelato at a place called Betty’s. The peach sorbet was divine.

Later on we got the car, drove to the Trullo, met M&S who look after it, had a good conversation, and then drove into Ceglie for supper. We had a good pizza and then wandered down to the square to find that our favourite cafè/bar, that Tim’s been coming to for 15 years, is no more. We don’t know what happened (effects of Covid?) but it felt like an old friend had disappeared.

Extra - my holiday outfit.
