A very windy day
Last night the jubilee BBQ with the neighbours was great, it was lovely to get to know them and find common ground. Meriel and Luke met all of them too, and what a coincidence that our neighbour's daughter - who was also at the BBQ - works in exactly the same department and same office in the civil service as Meriel, and yet they had never met before. The only problem was it was very cold sitting outside, it felt like winter. Ridiculous that June can be so cold.
At the BBQ last night, our neighbour who had entered the sailing club race today, asked if Gavin and Luke would join him in his boat as his wife did not want to go - so early this morning they left to go racing. It was extremely windy, and the wind was icy cold - horrible conditions but they loved it. They only got back quite late in the morning so we went for our walk much later than expected. I had already been out for a run while I was waiting for them, and it was tricky running into that strong wind. As it was so windy and cold we went for a shorter walk today along the beach, and all the kite surfers were taking advantage of the wind and having a grand time, as seen here. The wind today was really bad, I was quite glad to get back to the warmth of the house.
We had lunch at home, I made some salads and we had leftovers from the BBQ. In the afternoon Gavin and I took Xena for another walk but it was not pleasant in the wind, so we did not stay out for long. Adam and Pip arrived late in the afternoon - they were not able to join us earlier due to other commitments - but it is great to see them and have them here. Sadly Tommy is working very long hours getting his project completed and Inca only finishes exams next week, so they could not join us.
We are going out to dinner tonight so I had better go get ready.
