Platinum Jubilee - Day 3

This morning G, H, M & I went to and event at Langham Dome. G's husband is a volunteer guide and archivist there and he gave us an excellent talk about the Dome's history and purpose and demonstrated how it worked. The Dome was built in 1942 as a state-of-the-art anti-aircraft gunnery trainer. Images of enemy aircraft were projected onto the interior walls of the Dome and gunners could be efficiently and cost effectively trained in aiming accuracy which is driven by the type and speed of the enemy aircraft. More info is here https://langhamdome.org/

I've added an extra collage of the Dome, plus another of the blue tit chicks who've been attempting to use the feeders to varying degrees of success. Some are still wanting the parents to feed them, one in the collage was trying to get inside the feeder at the lowest part which was too small, and another in the collage overshot the main feeder completely and ended up hanging on to another empty feeder pole. This afternoon I watched a rather one sided women's final at the French Open, but well done to Swiatek who was completely dominant. I'm looking forward to see if Nadal can get yet another trophy tomorrow. And really looking forward to the Platinum Party at the Palace this evening, the staging looks great.
