Frightened

Poor little thing was trapped in my bathtub this morning. I, of course, screamed for Chef to come rescue me, and then I screamed for him to bring my camera. hahaha.

A few years ago there was a mouse in our bathtub. I was getting ready for work at 5am (we have a separate stand-up shower) and I noticed out of the corner of my eye, this thing jumping and jumping in the tub. It is a deep, garden style tub so the mouse couldn't escape. I screamed for Chef then too. Sleeping, and wishing not to be disturbed over a mouse, he told me to turn on the water to drown it. I couldn't stand the thought of the poor little creature suffering. I grabbed an empty coffee can and placed it into the tub .....that little mouse ran right into the can. Very quickly, I popped the lid on, ran outside in my bathrobe, to my neighbors yard across the street because I didn't want it to run right back into my house and surely it wouldn't run across the road. Thank goodness it was dark out, I didn't want anyone to see me releasing a mouse into my neighbor's yard, and in my bathrobe at that. I rationalized releasing it there by thinking, well, they have a cat, maybe the cat will keep the mouse from getting into their home. Anyway, about a month later, we had another mouse in the kitchen, I set traps and ended up catching 3 mice.

I wouldn't let Chef kill this one. I used a tall plastic container and scooped it up. This little mouse has been set free, deep in the woods of Bulle Rock, far, far, far, far, away from my house and far away from anyone's house. Maybe a snake or an eagle will have a nice lunch today. Circle of life.
