Northern Brown Argus at Pettycur, Fife
I can report that the small local colony of Northern Brown Argus butterflies is still surviving. Nationally, the distribution of this species has declined 27% in the last 50 years. It is a priority species for conservation.
This was my first opportunity to visit this site this year and two idividuals were seen. I usually find them the first week in June, though in 2019, I found one on 21st May.
