Such a peaceful and warm start to today. Had coffee sitting out on my deck before 07.00hrs. and soon had entertainment watching the antics of the squirrel community. Used to seeing them a lot scampering about across the garage roofs and running along the fences. As well as driving Ginny mad there are 2 Norwegian Forest cats living in the garden owned by my ground floor neighbours. They are confined to their patch by elaborate cat-escape-proof fencing on which the squirrels run the gauntlet. Today the cats were also taking in the morning sun and one launched itself, all fur, teeth and claws at the protective barrier sending the squirrel into a quick reverse manoeuvre back along the fence to choose another route. He wasn't hanging about and I caught a shot of him one fence further away from "the angry cat pit scenario" as he completed his journey out to where the rubbish bags are stored in a fox-proof-but-not-squirrel-proof enclosure!
I counted at least 4 squirrels and these two, in extra were making yesterday morning's visit to the neighbour's roof. I'm wondering when watching their antics turn to concern at being overrun by them. Their development of skyline living is keeping them safe from ground level predators.
