Killdeer

We are up in Madison County, Virginia at the Graves Mountain Festival of Music (annual - but didn't happen in 2020 or 2021, of course). This poor killdeer was losing her mind because all of a sudden there are crowds of people tramping across where she and her chicks are living.

A birding friend of mine calls killdeers "drama plovers" because of the broken wing act that they do to lure predators away from their eggs/chicks...

The biggest surprise this year is that there's WIFI in our CABIN. Progress!
