Run For Home

Ipod challenge day 4 - Run For Home by Lindisfarne.

This is Bexley, at a greyhound rescue centre near Hebden Bridge. He's a retired racing dog, needing a new home. My daughter and I took him out for a walk and I fell a little bit in love with him. Big soft lump that I am, I cried when I left!

We have been wanting a dog for ages. I have read everything about different breeds, spoken to everyone I know with a dog, accosted strangers walking dogs at every opportunity and interrogated them - I've generally been a little obsessed. I want to get it right. I had been coming round to a greyhound or lurcher, it was top of my list. Then we met Bexley!

I have to work a few things out, like securing the garden and finding a crate that will fit in my car. If Bexley gets re-homed in the meantime, that's great for him and there were many, many others there.

Run for Home has a Proustian effect on me a the best of times. When I'm an emotional wreck like today, it's guaranteed to set me off! And I didn't cheat - it was the first song that came up - it's an omen!
