Freedom of the Borough

Today Wigan Council granted the Freedom of the Borough to the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment in a ceremony and parade in the town centre.
The Sun shone, the crowds turned out, and the Lancaster’s were permitted to march “ with swords drawn, bayonets fixed, drums beating and flags flying”.
It was a great occasion, and my image shows the standard bearers parading on ready for the ceremony.
