TOKEN SIGNALS

Arrived at an out-of-way-station to find a Network Rail worker opening the secret cupboard. These are the tokens used to support Railway Safety . . . not in use currently as there is a block on the line to enable works to take place.
Every time a token was removed and taken by a driver, the line was blocked to any other train until tokens were exchanged elsewhere on the line. It may be Victorian but it works !
